1967: A married couple named DeSoto reports an 11:30 p.m.
UFO sighting from Caracas, Venezuela. According to the witnesses, they say a
luminous "whitish" object, some 33 feet in diameter, hovering over
their yard, illuminating the ground and emitting a humming noise. As they
watched, a door opened at the base of the craft and "something like a
light bulb" descended. A door on the smaller object opened, and a humanoid
figure about three feet tall allegedly emerged, dressed in "silvery
luminous clothes," its head surrounded by vapor. The DeSotos watched from
a distance of 15 feet while the strange visitor examined them, collected stones
from the ground, and seemed to communicate with the hovering craft. At that
point, they say, he dropped the stones, stepped back into the "light
bulb," and reentered the larger craft, which took off at high speed.
