At the beginning of the 21st Century monsters still roam the remote, and sometimes not so remote, corners of our planet. It is our job to search for them. The Centre for Fortean Zoology [CFZ] is - we believe - the largest professional, scientific and full-time organisation in the world dedicated to cryptozoology - the study of unknown animals. Since 1992 the CFZ has carried out an unparalleled programme of research and investigation all over the world. Since 2009 we have been running the increasingly popular CFZ Blog Network, and although there has been an American branch of the CFZ for over ten years now, it is only now that it has a dedicated blog.

WHAT ARE YOU MADE OF?

Scientists in Cambridge have made an important discovery.  Not all genes are passed on from your ancestors.  145 of them come from somewhere else.  The said scientists are of the opinion that micro-organisms have somehow boarded the human genome.  Supposing, though, they are something else?   I gather the micro-organism explanation remains an hypothesis.  Supposing they are the genes of unutterably horrible tentacled beings from the bottom of the sea that have somehow intermingled with ours?  That would explain a great deal about the physical characteristics of my wife's aunt.  There are 145 of these genes that are non-ancestral.  It is possible they are still entering our genetic makeup.  Keep all your orifices well fortified!
